How AI Overviews choose sources
AI Overviews are generated by Google's Gemini models from pages in Google's index, usually ones that already rank well and answer the question directly. Pages Googlebot cannot read, pages marked nosnippet, and pages without a clear answer near the top are rarely cited.

Where does the AI Overview data come from?
From live Google results for your keywords and location, collected through a search data provider.
Does blocking Google-Extended remove me from AI Overviews?
No. Google-Extended only controls training for Gemini. AI Overviews use Googlebot. Blocking Googlebot or using nosnippet would remove you.
Can I track AI Overviews over time?
